n. pl. max·il·lae (măk-sĭl′ē) or max·il·las
1. Anatomy Either of a pair of bones of the human skull fusing in the midline and forming the upper jaw.
2. A homologous bone of the skull in other vertebrates.
Family: Spinosauridae
Species: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus
Height: 23 ft
Length: 50 ft
Weight: 8 ton
Age: 9 years
Sex: Male
Special: Yellow stripe along edge of sail and snout crest has a shimmery quality in bright light. (Permission granted from Admin!)
Injuries: None
Personality: Attentive and independent, if perhaps not a little too abrasive with social matters. It's not that he is anti-social, rather that he simply does not have the patience to spend excessive time pampering to the wills of others. One of the less favoured of his family, he was cast out as a juvenile by his sibling thanks to the excessive pressure on the small patch of water they resided in, and followed a pack of triceratops seeking water to Arazoa.
Here he has indulged in his gluttony with little to no competition in the water which has enabled him to grow both fast and strong. A lack of competition means that while he may occasionally challenge another therapod for a carcass, he never comes to blows. Even if his size somehow doesn't intimidate others, there's literally plenty more fish in the sea. He can get snappy and territorial in winter when fishing tends to die down, but when the fishing is good, so is his temperament and willingness to share his grounds.
The isolation that enabled him to play catch-ups is finally getting to him, though - he can feel the stirrings of the will to sire his own family become stronger with each passing year. Whether or not he'd be a good father is another question. Due to his inexperience, it is unknown even to himself if he'd take a mate for life or take his chances at attracting multiple mates.

The bloodline before Maxillae is effectively extinct - the changing climate forced the family who chose to stay at the water hole to die of starvation.

During spring/summer Max can be found either at the island in the southern arm of the river, or patrolling the coastline further south looking for large marine animals that have come into or onto the shore to breed. However in winter when the current is cold and food tends to be more scarce he leans more towards hunting for marine animals hibernating in the relative warmth of the river if they do not migrate, or patrolling the river banks looking for carcasses he can contest over. Unless winter is particularly bad, he generally tolerates herbivores and smaller carnivores building nests, socialising and hunting in the same area as him.
